Overview

The Gender and Development (GAD) Center was established pursuant to Republic Act 7192 (an Act Promoting the Integration of Women as Full and Equal Partners of Men in Development and Nation Building and for other Purposes) and the Memorandum Circular of the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) and the Dept. of Budget and Management (DBM) to implement the Philippine Plan for Gender Responsive Development 1995-2025; and to institutionalize the Institute’s commitment to mainstream gender and development in its policies and programs.

The GAD Resource Center of the MSU-IIT provides technical assistance and capacity development on the following areas:

Work through a needs-based GAD Plan for client and organizational development

Engage in nurturing a gendered consciousness in all facets of operations.

Develop areas of collaboration in advancing gender equality and women empowerment.

Engender a sensitive work environment coupled with a responsive student support.

Facilitate the use of gender perspectives in instructional materials and pedagogies.

Evaluate and monitor GAD activities for judicious budget utilization.

Nurture a culture of collaboration in technology development and sharing of expertise.

Deploy advocates to extend the reach of the GAD Resource Center.
