The Gender and Development Center (GADC) of Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology implements flagship programs that translate gender and development principles into concrete actions. These programs are designed to address gender issues across sectors, promote inclusive participation, and support gender-responsive governance, education, research, and community engagement.
Anchored on national GAD policies and responsive to local contexts, the GADC’s flagship programs advance gender equality, protect vulnerable groups, and empower women and gender-diverse individuals through advocacy, capacity building, innovation, and community-based initiatives. Together, these programs reflect MSU–IIT’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
Climate Actions integrates gender perspectives into environmental sustainability and climate resilience initiatives. The program promotes inclusive participation in climate action planning, disaster risk reduction, and environmental advocacy, recognizing the differentiated impacts of climate change on women and marginalized sectors. Gender-Related Initiative Talks (GRITalks) is a virtual platform that fosters meaningful conversations around gender, development, and inclusivity. This program advances the rights, protection, and well-being of senior citizens, with attention to gender-specific needs and vulnerabilities. It promotes inclusive services, health awareness, and social participation of older persons within the university and partner communities.
Celebrated every March, Women’s Month highlights women’s contributions and advocates for gender equality through seminars, forums, campaigns, and cultural activities. The program serves as a platform for awareness-raising, policy dialogue, and collective action on women’s rights and empowerment.
